Do you Have What it Takes to Cut the Cable?

by Robert V. Ortiz 09/01/2019

We have all heard about it. Maybe even wondered if it something that we can do. With so many people looking for ways to save, be it time or money (or sanity), cutting the cable has become a popular consideration lately. If you have been wondering if it is for you here are some reasons to think about it.

How much time do you spend in front of the tube?

If you spend most of your off time watching the TV, you may be wondering if it is worth it for you. On the other hand, it might buy back some of your free time to spend on other things that you would instead focus on but find yourself sucked away from with the bright lights of a new show or movie. Either way, it is worth checking out for yourself.

Would you replace your cable?

If you get rid of cable would you choose to replace it with a streaming service, antenna box or another such tool? If so what would the cost be of said services? Now is the time to compare and make sure that you would not wind up spending more to replace than the cable that you are cutting. If, for instance, you choose two streaming services and need better internet service to support them price those together and find out how it compares to your current rate and options. Sometimes you may find that alternatives could be the winner in this battle of choice depending on what your focus is (sports, travel, cooking, news, etc.)

If you do not want to spend time with this electronic interloper what will you do with your time?

It is a good idea to find ways to cut out some of the electronics in your life, but determine what you will do with the time you put back into your life. If you find yourself bored it will probably be no time at all before you are hooked back up to cable. What is a passion that you have wanted to try but haven't? Maybe you enjoy cooking (or eating) new recipes, want to try your hand at photography, have a favorite cause close to your heart that you would like to volunteer for or have a list of books that you haven't gotten to yet. These all become options once you have identified the opportunity and made it available by cutting the cord to your couch.

Whatever your decision- enjoy it!

Once you have weighed out your options and made your decision enjoy doing what you want with your time. If you make a new choice to fill your time give it a chance. It will surely feel odd at first, but as with anything new, if you stick to it long enough, you will enjoy the perks of a decision well made.
